Dear ARA Artists,
We’re looking ahead—already!—to the next group exhibit. The taking down of the old and putting up of the new does not happen until October 3, with the opening and artwalk on October 4.
But jpegs need to be submitted for the Art Walk brochure by mid-September. So as before, if you want a chance for your work to appear in the Art Walk guide, a jpeg of your artwork needs to be sent to me by September 13, at kmuellerarts@aol.com
To be considered you’ll need a decent jpeg at 300 dpi, with dimensions not too small and the image positioned squarely in the frame.
The theme will be Transition, with its obvious seasonal interpretations of autumn (leaves changing and falling), harvest, retreat of the light. Another is migration. The two-month show, which goes from October 4 to December 4, straddles Halloween and All Souls Day—which invites or suggests playfulness but also the more serious transition of death. The fall season is also associated with the direction of west, the west wind, and the setting sun. The west wind is often considered a symbol of the spirit and of both destruction and renewal or creation.
So there’s plenty to conjure with! As always, if you’re inspired to paint or draw to the theme, that’s fine and wonderful but is not necessary, of course.
Information about the piece you plan to exhibit needs to be sent to me (kmuellerarts@aol.com) by September 26. We need this information in advance so that we can print labels and also keep track of who is exhibiting.
To reiterate deadlines:
September 13: jpeg for Art Walk guide sent
September 26: artwork information (title, medium, price) sent
Any questions, please send them to kmuellerarts@aol.com
Thank you!
Kate Mueller
